The French chemist Henri Moissan first identified it in 1893, in fragments recovered from a meteorite crater in Arizona, and for decades it existed only in trace amounts too small to cut. Every moissanite gemstone sold today is grown in a laboratory, using a process that replicates the same crystal structure at a size and clarity that never occurs naturally.

Trilogy settings place three stones in a row, traditionally read as past, present and future. Radiant cut keeps the brilliant facet pattern inside a rectangular outline with cropped corners, giving a shape that photographs like emerald but sparkles like round.
